Lunar and Solar Calendar
Lunar Calendar
In many places
around the world, like china and India, people use a lunar calendar. The lunar
calendar is based on the moons’ orbit around Earth. One orbit around the Earth
equals one month of 28 days. Each year has twelve and sometimes thirteen months.
Solar Calendar
In most part of the
world, people use a solar calendar. A solar calendar is based on the number of
days it takes the Earth to circle the Sun or 365 ¼ days. Each year is divided
into twelve months of 30 or 31 days. The second month has only 28 days, except
for every fourth year when it has 29 days. These years are called leap years.
