Penggunaan There are, There is dan It.

Kali ini penulis akan menjelaskan penggunaan There are, There is and It.

Penggunaan Thre are and There is sangatlah mudah. There are itu untuk menunjukan bahaw bendanya lebih dari satu. There is itu menunjukan bahwa benda nya tidak lebih dari satu. untuk lebih jelasnya perhatikan contoh-contoh di bawah ini:

1. How many animals are there?                     There are five animals

2. How many candy is there?                           There is one candy

Kemudian, There are and There is juga digunakan untuk menunjukan jumlah benda. Perhatikan contoh-contoh di bawah ini:

1. There are many tourists come to Indonesia

2. There is a mango tree in front of my house.

3. There are some books on my desk.

4. There are 5 children in the playground.

5. There is one bike outside.

Lebih dari itu, There are and There is juga digunakan untuk bertanya mengenai suatu jumlah benda atu yang lainnya. Perhatikanlah beberapa contoh di bawah ini:

1.      Are there any elephants?                                 Answer : No, there are not.    

2.      Is there one apple in your bag?                       Answer : Yes there is

3.      Are there any pencils in your bag?                   Answer : No there are not

4.      Is there a motor bike in garage?                       Answer : Yes, there is/ Yes there is a motor bike in garage

5.      Are there any computers in your room?          Answer : Yes there are 4 computers.

Ketika membuat kalimat dengan there are and there is, kita juga bisa menambahkan determiners: perhatikan beberapa contoh di bawah ini:

1.      There was a lot of rain last night

2.      There must have been more than five hundred in the audience

Untuk penggunaan It, memliki beberapa fungsi yaitu:

1.      Kita menggunakan It untuk menceritakan tentang waktu (times) dan tanggal (dates). Berikut contoh nya:

Ø  It’s at 8 a.m.

Ø  It’s Lebaran Day

Ø  It is 6 June 2015

2.      It digunakan untuk menyatakan sebuah cuaca (weather). Perhatikan contoh-contoh berikut:

Ø  It is raining

Ø  It is very cold

Ø  It was getting cold

Ø  It was summer

3.      It digunakan untuk memberikan sebuah pendapat (opinion) tentang suatu keadaan objek. Perhatikan contoh-contoh berikut:

Ø  It is very cold here

Ø  It is very comfortable in my new apartment.

Ø  It will be nice if we go home now.

4.      It digunakan untuk memberikan sebuah pendapat dengan menambahkan to invinitive. Perhatikan contoh-contoh berikut:

Ø  It was very interesting to see your brother.

Ø  It  was nice to join this club.

Ø  It will be great to go on holiday
