Factual Recounts dan Contoh nya

Sering sekali, seorang reporter/wartawan mencari banyak informasi tentang sebuah kejadian dengan mewawancarai orang yang terlibat dalam kejadian tersebut. Kadang-kadang, artikel yang dituliskan oleh jurnalis itu merupakan hasil dari wawancaranya. Nah, artikel yang berdasarkan wawancara itulah yang disebut dengan factual recounts. Jadi factual recount adalah sebuah artikel atau tulisan yang ditulis berdasarkan kejadian asli, biasanya berdasarkan wawancara.

Di bawah ini merupakan gramatical features  dari factual recount.

1. Menggunakan Saying Verbs

Sering sekali dalam menyampaikan sebuah berita maupun jawaban dari sebuah interview (wawancara) kita menggunakan saying verbs. Beberapa contoh saying verbs yang sering digunakan dalam bahasa Indonesia yaitu: dikatakan bahwa, dilaporkan bahwa, menyebutkan bahwa, mengungkapkan bahwa. Sebuah contoh  dalam kalimat bahasa Indonesia adalah seperti ini"Para peneliti itu mengatakan bahwa bahasa Inggris hanya perlu dipraktikan setiap hari, terutama dalam komunikasi verbal maupun non verbal".  Bagaimana dengan contoh bahasa Inggrisnya? "Mr SBY stated that many corruptors in Indonesia must be given death punishment"

2. Menggunakan kalimat passive sentences dan active sentences. 

Seperti contohnya:

The thief was caught by the policeman. He was shot on his two legs. Then the policeman said that the man wanted to escape by driving the motorbike.

was caught dan was shot merupakan kalimat passive.

3.  We use indirect speech

4. We use past and past perfect tenses to retell and report speech.

5. We emphasize the time expressions, conjunction to denote sequence of events, prepositional   phrase and prepositions time.

6.  We use coordinate and subordinate conjunctions

7. Using the third person (she/he/they)

8. Nouns, noun phrase, adjectives and adjective phrase to clarify the events and people

Man charged with pushing old woman down bus

SINGAPORE - The man who pushed an old woman down a bus along Upper Thomson Road has been charged in court.Twenty-five-year-old Ong Kok Hao is accused of hurting 76-year-old Hwang Li Lian Nee Lye on bus service number 167 at about 3pm on June 5 this year.

Ong is said to have used his right hand to push the old woman on her back, causing her to fall on the steps of the bus.The incident was captured in a two-minute video and uploaded on YouTube.The video shows Ong suddenly flying into a rage at Madam Hwang for pressing the bell at the last-minute along Upper Thomson Road.

A shouting match then ensued and during the heated spat, Ong threatened to slap the woman, before pushing her down the bus.Ong's lawyer Eddie Koh will be making representations to the court. The case will next be mentioned in December.
